Tonya D. Armstrong, Ph.D., M.T.S.
I am a Licensed Psychologist and founder of The Armstrong Center for Hope (www.armstrongcfh.com), an interdisciplinary group practice in Durham and Raleigh, NC, providing psychological and spiritual wellness for all ages. For 21 years, I served as the Minister of Congregational Care and Counseling at Union Baptist Church. Additionally, I provided leadership for six years as the Dean of the Counseling Studies Department at Apex School of Theology. I hold a double-major in psychology and music from Yale University, a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Master of Arts in Theological Studies (magna cum laude) from Duke University Divinity School. During 2018-2019, I was elected as the President of the North Carolina Psychological Association, the first African American female to lead the organization. In my leisure time, I enjoy laughing, harmonizing, and traveling with my husband of 29 years and our two teen-aged children.
I’m available for workshops, consultations, preaching, and speaking in my areas of expertise.
